Private Assessments at Our Bedford Clinic

A private autism assessment can be the solution to avoiding long NHS waiting lists. The Autism Pathway helps people gain a better understanding of how they experience the world. For some people, this may relate to communication, social situations, routines, sensory differences, emotional regulation or feeling different from others. For parents, it may involve trying to understand a child’s needs at home, in education or in everyday life.
Our team of qualified clinical psychologists, speech and language therapists, nurses, neuropsychologists, educational psychologists, and occupational therapists provide private autism and ADHD assessment services that are designed to be clear, supportive and thorough.
We know that every person is different, so our assessments are not based on assumptions or a one-size-fits-all style of thinking. We look at the whole picture, including developmental history, current experiences, strengths, challenges and the impact these may have day-to-day.
An assessment can provide answers, but it can also help people access the right support, make sense of past experiences and feel more confident about the future.

Preparing for Your Assessment
Before the assessment, the team will ask for background information and examples of the experiences that led to the enquiry through the free screening form. For a child, this could include information from parents, carers or school. Adults may be asked to reflect on childhood and current work, relationships and routines.

There is no need to prepare what you think might be the right answers. It is more useful to explain what feels straightforward, what takes extra effort and what has changed over time. You can also raise any communication, access or sensory needs when booking, so suitable arrangements can be discussed.

Once the clinical work is complete, the findings are brought together in a written report. This explains the outcome and includes recommendations based on the person’s circumstances rather than general advice.
